V. Enhancing Law Enforcement and Sternly Fighting against Illegal Crimes of Intellectual Property Rights

In 2004, with a close cooperation of relevant departments, Chengdu Municipal Public Security Bureau took vigorous measures against illegal crimes of intellectual property, and rooted out a batch of production dens of pirate books and CDs (compact disc). In September 2004, it found 2 underground illegal printing dens, and more than 3600 volumes of illegal printing sutras such as Tibetan sutra named Understanding from Benbo Religion, 3.5 tons of Tibetan sutra named Kangyur. In November, it investigated into and solved one case of imitated registered trademark, found 0.16 million packaging bags of imitated Chunjuan Brand baby cream, 26 thousand trademarks, 11 thousand bottles of finished products and a lot of raw materials and articles for making counterfeits, which valued 0.82 million RMB.


This is the spot where illegal video-audio products were destroyed in 2002.

In the whole year, Chengdu Municipal Public Security Bureau employed police by more than 4200 person-times and police wagons by more than 1120 wagon-times; took 83 various special actions; investigated into and solved 246 cases including business secret infringing cases, registered trademarks counterfeit cases, commodity cases of selling counterfeit registered trademarks, copyright infringing cases and cases of vending pirate books and CDs, involving an amount of money more than 80 million RMB; and detained 254 criminal suspects, of which 39 received public security punishment, and 8 were arrested.
